What’s Next for 48 Hours in Purgatory?

Well, it’s been a couple of months since the premiere of 48 HiP in Burlington, Ontario.  We had a blast and it was great to exceed our numbers limit!  (Luckily we upgraded to a larger auditorium the day before).

A premiere is a strange beast as the audience for that particular screening isn’t necessarily going to fit your target audience.  Actors, friends, family and other filmmakers came out to support us, and it was awesome!  Now, however, it’s time to get down to the nitty gritty of aiming the film directly at its intended viewers.

As Mike Klassen (Homeless Entertainment) and I (Jason Armstrong) prep for our two features shooting this fall (back-to-back), we’re also setting about making every conceivable enhancement to the 48 Hours Experience that we can.  While we’re excited about a modest theatrical run being a part of things, it’s the DVD release that really has us stoked.  Here’s what you’ll get with the BluRay edition of 48 HiP:

  • 48 HiP in full 1080p HD
  • 5.1 Surround Sound (with 2.0 option)
  • Director and Actor commentaries.
  • Behind the scenes footage.
  • Photo gallery.
  • Pop-up video version of the film.
  • Deleted scenes.
  • 48 HiP 1.5 Short film starring Stephanie Christiaens and Sean Szutka

There’s also some discussion of a version that will include the book “Skinless Jazz” in some form.  For those of you who don’t know, Skinless Jazz was actually written before 48 Hours in Purgatory and is the crazy story of Brody Hawkins’ life after he “goes home”.

I couldn’t predict a release date for the film right now, that will be up to the distributors, but you can count on a quality release by a solid distribution company with a reasonable price-tag.

So stay tuned guys!  Lot’s of great things are in the works for Brody, Ronnie and co.

Be Good.
